The pathways marked through our electronic book allow you to read across the individual essays following a particular theme. This horizontal logic gives you the opportunity to meander through a topic - none of the pathways follow a coherent narrative - and present a number of different ways of thinking about concepts we've seen as important to the collection as a whole. This less directed means of engagement with the book works productively against the vertical, linear organisation of the essays as individual pieces. It demonstrates the very different modes of reading multimedia presentation afford.

To set off on a pathway click on any of the terms listed below or in the menu on the left-hand side, and follow its route across the essays.

To move to another pathway simply click on the appropriate term in the menu.

To move back to a vertical mode of reading simply click on Essays and enter the individual pieces.
